SOCY
101 Syllabus
Summer 2010, 3-week session
|

|
Introduction
This
syllabus will be your road map for our introductory sociology course
athese next three weeks. It has information that you'll need throughout
the course, and you'll find it helpful to read this page carefully.
|
Notice
that under each meeting date, on the right side, lecture topics
are listed with two links below them: "download the lecture
outline" and "play the mp3 file."
1)
To listen to a lecture for the first time, just select "download
the lecture outline" under the name of the lecture. Soon,
a page will appear that is ready made for note taking.
2)
Once the page is visible, you should save it to a folder you
have created on your computer's "C" drive for this
purpose. I suggest that you call the new folder "socy101."
3)
Now, open the Word file. (With some
computers, you will get a window that will allow you to open
the file by selecting an "Open" button. With other
computers, you will need to go to the file and open it with
Word.)
4)
Select "play mp3 file" on your syllabus page. One
of two things will now happen, depending on how your computer
is configured:
- Windows
Media Player or some other mp3 software will automatically
enter the scene, and it may take up your entire screen.
You'll need to minimize the media player images so that
you'll be able to see the lecture outline and type your
notes under the different questions on the page,
OR
- You will be prompted to save the mp3 file to
a folder on your computer. Select a folder. Save the file.
Then, open it with Internet Explorer or an mp3 player such
as Windows Media Player.
When
you're finished listening, simply save your notes to your
computer for another day. These lecture outline pages will
help you tremendously in studying for exams.
